Colonel Kojah

"Colonel" Kojah (1945-1975) was an African-American black supremacist leader and drug trafficker who briefly usurped control of General Ahmed's black nationalist People's Army organization in Watts, California in 1975, transforming it from a social service provider into a neo-fascist paramilitary organization involved in drug trafficking, prostitution, gambling, racketeering, and murder. After a failed attempt to assassinate Ahmed, Kojah was himself killed by Ahmed during a confrontation at his mansion.

"Kojah" was born in 1945, and he was raised in Watts, California. He changed his name to a more African-sounding name amid the Black Power movement of the 1960s, and he joined General Ahmed's black nationalist "People's Army" movement in his hometown with the objective of fighting for Black equality. However, Kojah was more radical than Ahmed, as he admired Nazi imagery and Adolf Hitler's leadership style, and he preferred a more aggressive and militant approach towards Black dominance. In 1975, after the Mafia stepped up its harassment of the Black community in Watts, Kojah formed a paramilitary "Protection Squad" to deal with the Mafia threat, although, against Ahmed's orders, he took part in gang violence against the Mafia, and he also partnered with Major Delmay to move into drug trafficking, prostitution, gambling, and racketeering. Kojah began to usurp control of the People's Army due to the popularity of his neo-fascist and Black supremacist rhetoric among the movement's rank-and-file, and he purchased a mansion which was frequented by his loyal faction members and by white prostitutes.

Eventually, tensions simmered over, as Kojah had Dr. Lisk's People's Army-affiliated clinic bombed to prevent it from interfering with his drug trafficking operations. In retaliation, Ahmed's faction destroyed a drug shipment which Delmay intended to sell on the streets, and an enraged Delmay persuaded Kojah to have Ahmed murdered. Kojah and several of his men kidnapped Ahmed from his house one night, and they drove him to the desert, where they shot him and left him for dead. However, Ahmed survived, and he was able to rally enough loyal members of the People's Army to mount a stealthy attack on Kojah's mansion while dressed as Protection Squad members. Ahmed himself confronted Kojah in his back hard, and he prepared to shoot Kojah, although Delmay was able to jump him before he could do so. In the ensuing struggle, Kojah failed to kill Ahmed with his razor blade; Ahmed used the blade to kill Delmay, and he then struggled with Kojah in the pool and stabbed him dead from underwater. With Kojah dead and most of his faction members dead, the People's Army disintegrated, having lost the support of the state and fallen prey to criminality.
