The Kodoha faction ("Imperial Way") was a fascist faction of Japanese politics, consisting of junior Imperial Japanese Army officers who wanted to promote militarism, expansionism, and totalitarianism. Led by Sadao Araki and Jinzaburo Masaki, the faction supported the 1932 Japanese invasion of Manchuria, and it took part in assassinations against the government and the moderate Toseiha faction. In the February 26 Incident of 1936, the Kodoha launched a failed coup, leading to the government's purge of the faction and the end of the "government by assassination" period.
