
Koci Xoxe (1 May 1911 – 11 June 1949) was the Minister of Defence and Minister of the Interior for the People's Republic of Albania under Enver Hoxha. He was later executed for being pro-Yugoslavia and being an MI6 agent.
Biography[]
Koci Xoxe was born on 1 May 1911 in Negovan, Greece to an family of ethnic Macedonians and Bulgarians. In 1937, along with Enver Hoxha and Koco Tashko, he emerged as a leader of communism in the Kingdom of Albania, and they led resistance against Nazi Germany during World War II. Although holding the titles of Minister of Defense and Minister of the Interior under Hoxha, Xoxe became a rival of him, and after his supporter Josip Broz Tito of Yugoslavia broke their alliance with Hoxha's Soviet Union allies, Xoxe was executed for being pro-Yugoslav, killed by firing squad on 11 June 1949.
