The Koani ambulance ambush occurred in 2019 when American special forces ambushed and captured a medical equipment convoy being moved through Koani, Bolivia by the Santa Blanca Cartel.
Major Anthony Perryman and his Ghost Recon team came across the convoy while heading to investigate the Koani Air Base, where one of the air traffic controllers was only on duty when Boston Reed was making a delivery to the province. The Americans approached the convoy in a civilian car and immobilized the ambulance in a drive-by shooting before engaging the escorts. The Ghosts gradually overcame intense resistance before tagging the capture ambulance with a tracker and ensuring that the Kataris 26 rebels could retrieve the medical supplies at a later date.
