The Knights Templar Cartel was a Mexican drug cartel that rose from the ashes of La Familia Michoacana in the state of Michoacan in 2011. Enrique Plancarte Solis, Servando Gomez Martinez, and Dionisio Loya Plancarte formed the cartel after the rumored death of Nazario Moreno Gonzalez in 2010, and the new cartel took over LFM's operations in Guerrero, the state of Mexico, and Morelos. On 27 February 2015, Gomez Martinez was captured, but the cartel remained strong and deadly, and it dealt with cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and other illegal drugs. The cartel was allied with the Gulf Cartel, Beltran-Leyva Cartel, and Sinaloa Cartel against the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Los Zetas, and the Autodefensas.
