Klete Derik Keller (21 March 1982-) was an American competitive swimmer, Olympic gold medalist, and far-right insurrectionist who participated in the 2021 United States coup d'etat attempt.
Biography
Klete Derik Keller was born in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1982, and he was raised in Phoenix, Arizona in 1982. He went on to compete in the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Summer Olympics, winning silver in 2000 and gold in 2004 and 2008. He later worked in several sales and finance jobs, and he was jobless and homeless for ten months, using his gym membership to shower, and living out of his car. In 2018, he entered the real estate business in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Keller became a hardline right-winger and gun rights enthusiast during Donald Trump's presidency, and he attended the "Million MAGA March" in Washington DC in November 2020 and joined the insurrection at the US Capitol on 6 January 2021 amid the 2021 United States coup d'etat attempt. He surrendered to federal authorities on 14 January 2021, but he was then released without needing to pay bail and was merely ordered to stay away from Washington DC until the day after Joe Biden's inauguration and to seek permission before visiting his children in North Carolina.
