Kiyomori Niwa was a general of the Toyotomi.
Biography[]
Kiyomori Niwa was from Tokushima in Awa Province, Shikoku, and he was one of the brave warriors to flock to Hideyori Toyotomi's cause in 1615 at Osaka Castle. Kiyomori was one of the last surviving Toyotomi generals at the siege, and along with Atsumori Tashiro and a few other Toyotomi units, they succeeded in routing the Tokugawa army at the battle and escaping the castle alive. Ieyasu Tokugawa was likely to return with even more soldiers, as he was the ruler of all Japan. With the 800-odd Toyotomi troops left, Kiyomori and Atsumori decided to abandon the castle, and they surrendered to the Tokugawa.
