Kirron Kher

Kirron Kher (14 June 1952-) was an Indian Bollywood actress and BJP member of the Lok Sabha from Chandigarh from 16 May 2014, succeeding Pawan Kumar Bansal.

Biography[]

Kiran Thakar Singh Sandhu was born in Bangalore, Mysore, India on 14 June 1952, and she came from a Punjabi Sikh family. Raised in Chandigarh, Punjab, she married a Mumbai businessman in 1979 and struggled in her attempts to become an actress in the 1980s before making her film debut in 1983 and finally achieving success during the late 1990s and 2000s. In 2003, she changed her name to "Kirron Kher" due to her belief in Numerology, and she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2009 and campaigned for the party across the country. In 2014, she was elected MP for Chandigarh, with Bollywood actors Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor campaigning for her. One of her achievements as MP was the creation of a film city within Chandigarh.
