Kirrha was a coastal town of ancient Phokis, Greece. Kirrha was built at a height at some distance from the Corinthian Gulf, securing it against hostile sea attacks. However, the town's growth in power led to the town expanding towards the shoreline, and Kirrha and Delphi's rise to importance coincided with each other. As Cirrha commanded the approach to Delphi by sea, it was able to levy exorbitant tolls upon pilgrims, who arrived at Pilgrim's Landing. In 595 BC, Kirrha's frequent robbery and mistreatment of pilgrims led to the First Sacred War with Delphi, and Kirrha was razed to the ground. Cirrha was afterwards rebuilt as the harbor for the Sanctuary of Delphi, and pilgrims continued to arrive at the port. The walls of ancient Kirrha remain in modern "Kirra", which had a population of 1,385 people in 2011.
