The Kinryu Maru was an Imperial Japanese Navy transport ship that was launched on 29 January 1939. The transport ship was sent to ferry troops and supplies to the Solomon Islands during the Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942, and it was attacked by US Navy bomber squadrons during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons on 25 August. The warplanes dropped torpedoes and shot at the ship's weaknesses with bullets, sinking it.
