The Kingdom of Thrace was a Hellenized Thracian aristocratic monarchy which existed from 323 to 281 BC. The kingdom was established by the Macedonian satrap Lysimachus amid the Wars of the Diadochi, with Lysimachus ruling over the coastal region of Thrace which had been conquered from the Odrysian Kingdom by Philip II of Macedon from 342 to 341 BC. The Greco-Thracians and Odrysians warred for control of Thrace as Lysimachus fought against Alexander the Great's other former generals for control of the once-great Macedonian empire, but Lysimachus' death at the Battle of Corupedium in 281 BC led to the throne of Thrace falling passing to King Ptolemy Keraunos of Macedon; the Odrysian Kingdom would experience a resurgence as the Greeks were too busy fighting each other in the south.
