The Kingdom of Bohemia was a medieval monarchy in the Bohemia region of Central Europe, located in what is now the Czech Republic. It existed from 1198 to 1918, with the Premyslids being the ruling dynasty of Bohemia until the House of Luxembourg gained power in 1310. In 1526, it fell under the House of Habsburg's rule, and from the late 14th century to the beginning of the 17th centuries the city of Prague was an imperial seat of the Holy Roman Empire. Bohemia lost its independence as it merged with the Holy Roman Empire, and it would remain a territory of the Holy Roman and Austrian emperors until the end of World War I in 1918 led to the creation of Czechoslovakia to replace Bohemia.
