The King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) was a British Army line infantry regiment which was active from 1680 to 1959. The regiment was raised in London and the West Country, and it was first deployed to garrison English Tangier. The regiment fought in the Monmouth Rebellion, the Williamite War in Ireland, in Flanders during the War of the Grand Alliance, in Spain during the War of the Spanish Succession, in Scotland during the Jacobite rising of 1745, in Menorca and the Caribbean during the Seven Years' War, in America and the Caribbean during the American Revolutionary War, in the Netherlands during the French Revolutionary Wars, in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars, in America during the War of 1812, at the Battle of Waterloo, in Crimea during the Crimean War, in South Africa during the Second Boer War, on the Western Front of World War I, in South Asia and Western Europe during World War II, and in Korea during the Korean War. In 1959, the regiment was merged into the King's Own Royal Border Regiment.
