The Kimotsuki clan was a Japanese samurai clan who ruled over Osumi Province on Kyushu during the Sengoku period. The Kimotsuki were headed by Kanetsugu Kimotsuki from the 1540s to 1566, and they rebelled against the Shimazu in 1554 in alliance with the Ito clan. However, the Kimotsuki clan was defeated at the Siege of Iwatsurugi Castle; in 1561, the Kimotsuki and Ito again rebelled, and they achieved some successes (including the slaying of Tadamasa Shimazu) before the Shimazu crushed the Kimotsuki clan's rebellion in 1566, killing Kanetsugu.
