Kimber Cornellus Sigler (2 May 1894-30 November 1953) was the Republican Governor of Michigan from 1 January 1947 to 1 January 1949, succeeding Harry Kelly and preceding G. Mennen Williams.
Biography[]
Kimber Cornellus Zeigler was born in Schuyler, Nebraska in 1894, and his family changed the spelling of their surname to "Sigler" during World War I. He practiced law in Detroit, Hastings, and Battle Creek in Michigan before running for Michigan Attorney General in 1928 as a Democrat. He went on to switch to the Republican Party and served as Governor of Michigan from 1947 to 1949, reorganizing state agencies and creating the department of administration. He lost re-election to Democrat G. Mennen Williams, and he died in a plane crash near Augusta, Michigan in 1953.
