Kim Ki-nam (28 August 1929-7 May 2024) was Director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers' Party of Korea from April 1989 to 9 October 2017, preceding Pak Kwang-ho.
Biography[]
Kim Ki-nam was born in Kumya, South Hamgyong Province, Japanese Korea in 1929. He graduated from North Korean and Soviet party schools before serving as ambassador to China during the 1950s and then in the agitprop department of the Workers' Party of Korea, serving as its director from 1989 to 2017. Kim produced articles and essays creating the cult of Kim Jong-il and praising Kim Il-sung's historic role, and he authored the country's political slogans under Kim Jong-il. He retired in 2017 and died in 2024.
