Kiemon Tateyama

Kiemon Tateyama (1957-) was a Japanese doctor who lived in Dotonbori, Osaka during the 1980s. From 1988 to 1989, he helped Makoto Makimura recover from her trauma-induced blindness and regain her sight, and, in January 1989, he attempted to rescue Makimura from her harassers Sadao Kanda and Ukon Yamashina on the street, only to find that Goro Majima had beaten them down. Tateyama mistook Majima for the harasser until Majima took Tateyama aside and ensured that Tateyama loved Makimura and would protect her, for both of their sakes. He then persuaded Tateyama to make his feelings for Makimura known, and Majima walked off as Tateyama returned to Makoto and persuaded her to go out on a date with him. They ultimately married and had a child together.
