Khufu (died 2566 BC) was Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt from 2589 to 2566 BC, succeeding Sneferu and preceding Djedefre.
Biography[]
Khufu was the son of Pharaoh Sneferu and Hetepheres I, and he succeeded his father as ruler of the 4th Dynasty in 2589 BC. Khufu's reign was marked by the commissioning of the Great Pyramid of Giza, and later Arab historians claimed that Khufu had built his three pyramids to protect his treasures and books of wisdom after a prophet warned him about a devastating deluge that would come and destroy Egypt.
