
Khan Kutan of Mongolia (880-930) was the khan of the Yenisei Kirghiz from 900 to 920, succeeding Khan Bonek of Mongolia and preceding Khan Koncek of Mongolia.
Biography[]
Kutan was born to the Tengri Kyrgyz Yenisei Kirghiz tribe, and he was the son of Khan Bonek of Mongolia. He succeeded his father on his death in 900 as the khan of the Yenisei Kirghiz, and he reigned as khan for twenty years. Kutan was the first Khan of the Yenisei Kirghiz to embrace Manichaeism, which was previously the state religion of the Uyghur Khaganate, which preceded the Yenisei Kirghiz. When he died in 920, he was succeeded by his son Khan Koncek of Mongolia.
