Khalil al-Rahman Haqqani (1 January 1966-11 December 2024) was a senior leader of the Haqqani Network during the Afghanistan War.
Biography[]
Khalil al-Rahman Haqqani was born in Afghanistan in 1966, the brother of Jalaluddin Haqqani and the uncle of Sirajuddin Haqqani. He became a senior member of the Haqqani Network during the Afghanistan War, and, in 2002, he deployed men to reinforce al-Qaeda insurgents in Paktia Province. He later engaged in fundraising and support activities on behalf of the Taliban, and, in 2009, he took part in the detention of prisoners captured by the Taliban. He went on to serve as Minister of Refugees after the restoration of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in 2021, and he was killed in an ISIL suicide bombing outside his office in December 2024.
