Khalid ibn Salim was a general of the Sharifate of Mecca (Hejaz) during the Hejazi War of Nejdi Kaf.
Biography[]
Khalid ibn Salim was born in Medina, Sharifate of Mecca (also known as Hejaz; present-day Saudi Arabia) to a Sunni Muslim family. Although he was unfit and doughty, he was appointed to command the Bedouins, an army of Hejazi troops that were sent to fight against the Sultanate of Nejd. In the Hejazi War of Nejdi Kaf, he commanded this army in an invasion of Hail Province, but he was defeated in the Battle of Hail on 10 January 1838 by General Fawzi ibn Ja'far. On 10 March 1838 his remaining 1,984 troops were defeated at the Battle of Medina, and Hejaz was forced to negotiate a white peace with the Sultanate of Nejd.
