Khalid Mehsud (died 8 February 2018), also known as Khan Said Sanja, was a Mehsud military commander in South Waziristan in Pakistan.
Biography[]
A member of the Mehsud clan (kinsman to Hakimullah Mehsud and Baitullah Mehsud), Khalid took on the kunya (nom de guerre) of Khan Said Sanja and joined the jihad against the government of Pakistan. He was formerly the leader of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan's South Waziristan faction, but split from the Taliban in 2014, saying that they were too "un-Islamic". Mehsud became the leader of the Mehsud clan faction, and fought the government. On 8 February 2018, he was killed in a US drone strike in North Waziristan, Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan.
