Khalid Jawad

Khalid Jawad (died 6 September 1972) was a Black September Organization member and one of the hostage takers in the 1972 Munich Massacre.

Biography[]

Khalid Jawad was one of the Black September Organization members who was selected to take part in the "Iqrit and Biram" operation on 6 September 1972, better known as the "Munich Massacre" in English. Yusuf Nazzal led a team of Black September operatives into the Olympic Village in Munich, West Germany, and the team kidnapped 11 Israeli athletes competing in the games. Jawad, with the nickname "Salah", guarded one of the helicopters where the athletes were held hostage, and during the rescue operation by the German police, he tried to escape while shooting at the guards. However, he was shot dead by a German police sniper.
