
Khaled Mahafoudh Bahah (born 1965) was the Prime Minister of Yemen from 9 November 2014 to 22 January 2015, succeeding Mohammed Basindawa (Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak turned down the office) and preceding Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr. From 13 April 2015, he served both as Vice-President and Prime Minister under Abd-Rabbuh Mansur Hadi's government-in-exile in Aden during the Yemeni Civil War, but he was sacked on 3 April 2016 and replaced as Vice-President by Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar and as Prime Minister by Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr.
Biography[]
Khaled Bahah was born in 1965 in Yemen, and Bahah was educated in Savitribai Phule Pune University in India. Bahah was a member of the General People's Congress of Yemen, a nationalist party, but quit the party in 2011 after the government began to use violence against protesters in the Yemeni Revolution. On 14 October 2014 he was made Prime Minister designate after Mohammed Basindawa was forced to resign in September and Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak turned down the office, and served under President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. On 22 January 2015 Hadi and Bahah tendered their resignations to Parliament two days after Houthis shelled the Presidential Palace and took control of Hadi's residence in a violent coup d'etat, and their cabinet was dissolved. However, he continued his posts as Prime Minister and Vice-President under Hadi in Aden during the Yemeni Civil War, and they were the internationally-recognized Yemeni government. He held these posts until 3 April 2016, when he was sacked and replaced in both posts.
