Khadaffy Janjalani (3 March 1975-4 September 2006) was the leader of Abu Sayyaf from 1998 to 2006, succeeding Abdurajik Abubakar Janjalani and preceding Radullan Sahiron.
Biography[]
Khadaffy Janjalani was born on 3 March 1975 in Isabela City, Basilan in the Philippines to a family of mixed Muslims and Christians. He was the younger brother of Abdurajik Abubakar Janjalani, and his older brother founded Abu Sayyaf as an Islamist terrorist group. Khadaffy succeeded his brother as leader upon his killing in 1998, and he initiated the group's hostage-taking policies after taking power in a power struggle with other factions in the group. On 4 September 2006 he was shot in the neck in an encounter with Filipino government troops, and his body was discovered in a grave on 27 December.
