Kensington

Kensington is an affluent district in the West End of Central London, Greater London, England. It was known to the Anglo-Saxons as Chenesitone, meaning "Chenesi's town". The manor of Kensington was granted to Geoffrey de Montbray by King William the Conqueror after the Norman conquest of England, and it developed into an extremely affluent area by the 20th century. In 2011, Kensington had a population of 64,681 people, and it was a Conservative Party stronghold from its creation in 1974, only briefly interrupted from 2017 to 2019 when Labour MP Emma Dent Coad represented the constituency.
