Kenno-kai

The Kenno-kai was a subsidiary of the Dojima-gumi and Tojo-kai yakuza organizations of Japan. It was founded by Daisaku Kuze (whose nickname, "King of Fists" - or kenno - referring to his days as a boxer) during the 1980s, serving as the primary muscle of the Dojima-gumi and handling Sohei Dojima's dirty work. It operated several loansharking businesses, lending money to desperate people at exorbitant interest rates. It took part in the empty lot dispute of 1988, and it later failed in its attempt to wipe out the Kazama-gumi leadership at its offices. After Kuze was arrested and the Dojima-guchi family lost the land for the Kabukicho revitalization project, the Kenno-kai was disbanded and its members absorbed into the Kazama-gumi and the main Dojima-gumi.
