
Kearny, also called North Kearny, is a town in Hudson County, New Jersey, located in the suburbs of Newark. Kearny became a township in 1867, and it was named after American Civil War hero Philip Kearny. In 1899, Kearny became a city, and south Kearny became a factory town. By 2008, North Kearny's residential area was in disrepair, and gangs such as ND3, the Hustlers, and The Lost MC controlled the area; The Lost MC's clubhouse is located in North Kearny. In 2015, Kearny had a population of 42,137 people, with 73.57% being white, 12.53% being from other races, 5.37% African-American, 4.41% Asian, 3.63% multiracial, .4% Native American, and .08% Pacific islander; 39.95% of people identified as Hispanics.
