Kazama-gumi

The Kazama-gumi was a subsidiary of the Tojo-kai yakuza organization of Japan. The family was founded during the 1980s, and, led by Shintaro Kazama, it became a subsidiary of the Dojima-gumi family. Kazama's incarceration in 1987 led to his lieutenant Osamu Kashiwagi assuming the day-to-day leadership of the family, and the family came to absorb the remnants of the Dojima-gumi. In 1996, the Nishikiyama-gumi split from the Kazama-gumi to form its own family. On Kazama's death, Kashiwagi became the boss of the Kazama-gumi, surviving a 2009 assassination attempt.
