Katrina Van Tassel (born in 1780) was a Dutch-American resident and landowner of the town of Sleepy Hollow.
Biography[]
Katrina was born in 1780 in Sleepy Hollow, New York. Daughter of Baltus Van Tassel and Elizabeth Van Tassel, in a family of Dutch farmers. Her family worked for Peter Van Garret, the local landowner of Sleepy Hollow. In 1799, Van Garret, his son Dirk Van Garrett and wife Emily Winship were supposedly killed by The Headless Horseman. As a result, the authorities of New York City sent Ichabod Crane to investigate the case. During Ichabod's visit to Sleepy Hollow, Katrina fell in love with him. After much investigation it was discovered that the murderer was Lady Mary Van Tassel, but she was never arrested due to her mysterious dissapear. Katrina and Icahbod married and moved to New York.
