Karl Harrer

Karl Harrer (8 October 1890 – 5 September 1926) was the Deputy Leader of the Nazi Party from 1919 to 1920 under Anton Drexler.

Biography[]

Karl Harrer was born on 8 October 1890, and he became a Thule Society member. He was commissioned to politically influence workers in Munich after World War I, and he encouraged Anton Drexler to form the Nazi Party in 1919. As a founding member, he espoused the ideas of nationalism, anti-Semitism, and anti-communism, but he was opposed to some of Adolf Hitler's views. Harrer believed that the Nazis should be a semi-secret elite instead of a populist movement that Hitler wanted, and he was opposed to Hitler's severing of ties with the Thule Society and his restructuring of the German Workers' Party. He died at the age of 35 in 1926.
