
Karaman Bey (1220-1261) was Bey of the Karamanids from 1256 to 1261, preceding Mehmet I.
Biography[]
Kemiruddin Karaman Bey was born in 1220 to the Salur tribe of Turkmen, the son of Nure Sofi. His father founded a semiautonomous realm in Anatolia, which later took Karaman Bey's name, becoming the Karamanids in 1256. He fought against the Armenians of Cilicia to expand his territory, and, in 1261, both of his brothers were killed in battle with the Seljuks near Konya. Karaman died shortly after the battle.
