Kanuri

The Kanuri are an African ethnic group native to Niger, Nigeria, and Cameroon. The Kanuri ruled the Bornu Empire of 1380-1893, and the Kanuri people were traditionally sedentary farmers who engaged in trade, fishing in the Chad Basin, and salt processing. In 2013, the Kanuri world population was 10,000,000, with 6,980,000 living in Nigeria, 1,100,000 in Chad, 850,000 in Niger, and 56,000 in Cameroon. The Kanuri people practice Islam.
