Kalon the Bricklayer (463 BC - 431 BC) was an Athenian Greek mercenary during the 5th century BC.

Biography[]

Kalon was once an Athenian builder who helped with the construction of the Parthenon, but it was believed that he made a big mistake which led to the deaths of many workers. He was exiled from the city, but he came back many years later with a different name, and he became a mercenary. In 431 BC, he was hired to hunt down and kill the mercenary Kassandra in Athens, but they engaged in an archery battle on the rooftops above the Agora of Athens, and Kalon was killed with an arrow to the eye.
