Red Army

The Kalinin Front was a front of the Soviet Red Army which existed from 17 October 1941 to October 1943, consisting of three armies and one air army. The Kalinin Front took part in the counterattack against the Axis forces on the eastern front during World War II, and it took part in the liberations of the Velikiye Luki and Rzhev salients during the fighting against the Germans. In October 1943, the Kalinin Front was renamed to the 1st Baltic Front.
