Kabukicho Hills

Kabukicho Hills is the second tallest building in Kabukicho, Tokyo, Japan, consisting of office space and four floors of high-end shops, cafes, and a supermarket. In 2006, the West Park, which had devolved into a homeless encampment, was demolished by the city government, and the Tojo-kai yakuza Goro Majima - seeking to assume ownership of the secret "Sai no Kawara" ("Purgatory") underground pleasure district under West Park - bought the land and began the construction of Kabukicho Hills, which was destined to be the second-tallest building in Kabukicho after Millennium Tower. In 2007, the building's construction was cancelled due to the building's role in the 2006 Tojo-Omi war, and the name "West Park" made a return after the steel skeleton was pulled down. By 2010, however, the building was nearly completed, and Isao Katsuragi became the building's new owner. The former entrance to Purgatory was temporarily blocked off as a result of the building's near-completion. That same year, the final battle between the Uenoseiwa-kai and the Tojo-kai occurred at Kabukicho Hills, and Katsuragi was killed. In April 2011, Kabukicho Hills was formally opened in a "grand opening" ceremony. In 2012, another battle occurred at the tower, this time between the Tojo Clan and Naoki Katsuya's Ousaka Enterprises.
