Biography[]
Jutsurai Shimozuma was the ambitious lord of the Ikko-Ikki Hongan-ji Buddhist monk order of central Japan. He made a trade agreement with the Takeda clan, although he was unfriendly towards their lord Shingen Takeda due to his territorial expansion. Jutsurai and his clan were fierce warrior-monks similar to those of Kenshin Uesugi of the Uesugi clan of Echigo Province, whom they fought with in fierce wars over northern central Japan.
