Justin Shea Bautista-Jones (born 25 August 1995) was a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives (D-TN 52) from 10 January to 6 April 2023 (succeeding Mike Stewart and preceding himself) and from 10 April 2023.
Biography[]
Justin Jones was born in Oakland, California in 1995, half-Filipino and half-Black. He attended the Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, Tennessee before being arrested for protesting a rally held by Republican politican candidate Marsha Blackburn in October 2018, and he also protested for the removal of a Nathan Bedford Forrest statue and took part in a 62-day sit-in at the State Capitol amid the George Floyd protests. Jones was elected to the State House in 2022, but he was expelled by its Republican majority for taking part in a gun control protest in the State Capitol. He was reappointed to the State House by the Nashville city council on 10 April 2023.
