Jungulf was an Anglo-Saxon poet who lived in Repton, Leicestershire, Mercia during the late 9th century AD. In 874 AD, he challenged the passing-by Norwegian Viking warrior Eivor to a flyting competition after insulting the Danes' rhyming skills, betting 100 peningas. Eivor destroyed Jungulf in the competition as Jungulf's friend Godrich watched, gleefully acknowledging Eivor's successful retorts until Jungulf decided to pay Eivor his due.
