Jun Oda (1962-17 December 1988), born Wei Tian, was a Chinese-Japanese criminal and extortionist who worked as the "on-site acquisitions" specialist for Tachibana Real Estate in Kabukicho, Tokyo during the 1980s.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Wei Tian was born in Dotonbori, Osaka, Japan in 1962 to a family of mixed Chinese and Japanese parentage; he later changed his name to the Japanese "Jun Oda" to assimilate. He was involved in a Chinese mafia in Dotonbori which engaged in human trafficking, selling Makoto Makimura to a Korean crime syndicate in 1986.
Partnering with Tachibana[]

Jun Oda in December 1988
Oda later met Tetsu Tachibana (whom he was unaware was Makoto's brother) through the gang life and became his partner in an extortion business which would later evolve into "Tachibana Real Estate" with the help of yakuza captain Shintaro Kazama. Oda worked as Tachibana's chief street enforcer, strong-arming business owners in Kabukicho, Tokyo to sell their land to Tachibana Real Estate, which ensured that the land did not fall into the hands of the Dojima-gumi family for the latter's Kabukicho 21st Century Revitalization Project. On 12 December 1988, he crossed paths with Kazama's protege Kazuma Kiryu twice (while extorting Ryushi Namase's bar and while walking through the Golden Gai neighborhood) before Kiryu told Oda that Tachibana had offered him employment, and Oda tested him by sending him to fight his way through an ambush at Tachibana's penthouse before meeting him in Tachibana's apartment. There, Oda told Kiryu that he needed to check if Kiryu was good enough of a fighter to be a partner in Tachibana Real Estate, and he proceeded to engage Kiryu in a destructive battle which resulted in his defeat. Shortly after, Tachibana arrived and decided to welcome Kiryu into the fold to help in the fight against the Dojima family.
Makoto's rescue[]
Tachibana, Oda, and Kiryu later travelled to Osaka to rescue Makoto Makimura from the Tojo-kai after it was discovered that she was the true owner of the Empty Lot. Oda had secretly informed the yakuza that Makoto was in Osaka before discovering that Makoto was Tachibana's sister. Makoto recognized Oda and, while Oda exited at a construction site to check if the area was safe, Makoto told Kiryu that she knew Oda. Oda overheard the conversation and pulled a gun on Makoto and Kiryu, but Makoto stabbed Oda in the leg with a small blade from her walking stick, and Kiryu took Oda's gun and turned it on him. Kiryu then forced Oda to explain everything, and he revealed that he had inadvertently sold Tachibana's sister to the Korean syndicate while working in human trafficking, only to discover her identity when Tachibana identified her as his sister after seeing her on a documentary about Chinese immigration to Japan.
Death[]
Shortly after, the Shibusawa-gumi's henchmen arrived to find Makoto, and Oda - seeking to redeem himself for twice betraying Makoto - volunteered to distract the yakuza as Kiryu and Makoto. Oda told Kiryu to tell Tachibana that he really loved him, and he was shot repeatedly. In his dying breaths, Oda refused to cooperate with Keiji Shibusawa and told him that he didn't know where Makoto was anymore, and Shibusawa proceeded to execute Oda.
