
Julius Caldeen Gunter (31 October 1858-26 October 1940) was the Democratic Governor of Colorado from 9 January 1917 to 14 January 1919, succeeding George Alfred Carlson and preceding Oliver Henry Shoup.
Biography[]
Julius Caldeen Gunter was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1858, the son of Thomas M. Gunter. He served on the Colorado Supreme Court from 1905 to 1907, as Governor of Colorado from 1917 to 1919 (organizing his state's home guard during World War I), and lost renomination in 1918; he died in 1940.
