Jubair Shafi (died 2005) was an Iraqi adult male who was killed in a United States UAV strike in Haditha in 2005 for supposedly burying an IED.
Biography[]
Jubair Shafi was born in Haditha, Iraq, and he was a family friend of Hiba Abdullah and her family. In 2005, he offered to plant a fig tree in honor of her son's circumcision, and that night he headed out with a hoe to dig a hole for the tree. US Central Command in Ramadi identified him as a military-age male who could be planning to bury an IED on the side of a road, so a UAV shot a missile at his position, neutralizing him.
