Jovianus Clausus

Jovianus Clausus (334-389) was a general of the Western Roman Empire. He rebelled and declared himself "Augustus", so he was crushed by the Eastern Roman Empire in 389 AD.

Biography[]

Jovianus Clausus was an inspirational Christian and a confident commander, and he declared himself Augustus of the Western Roman Empire one day, taking control of Lepcis Magna (Khoms, Libya). Clausus reigned until 389 AD, when Decentius Flavius laid siege to Lepcis Magna. He was killed in the assault.
