The Journal Square Transportation Center is a transportation hub located on Kennedy Boulevard at Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey. The hub was opened on 14 April 1912 as the "Summit Avenue Station", and it was renamed to "Journal Square" in the 1920s. In 1962, the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad was acquired by PATH, and the station was rebuilt between 1968 and 1975. The center contributed to the decline of the district by moving the train-bus interchange, and thus pedestrians, away from other commercial activities around the square, and it soon became unadvisory to walk through Journal Square alone at nighttime. In 2017, the center served 8,227,813 people.
