
Josiah Sutherland (12 June 1804-25 May 1887) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 11) from 4 March 1851 to 3 March 1853, succeeding Peter H. Silvester and preceding Theodoric R. Westbrook. Born in Stissing, he practiced law in Livingston before serving as Columbia County district attorney from 1832 to 1843, in Congress, on the state supreme court from 1858 to 1871, and on the New York City Court of General Sessions from 1872 to 1878.
