Josh Hawley (born 31 December 1979) was a US Senator from Missouri (R) from 3 January 2019 (succeeding Claire McCaskill), having served as Attorney General of Missouri from 9 January 2017 to 3 January 2019 (succeeding Chris Koster).

Josh Hawley was born in Lexington, Missouri in 1979, and he worked as a lawyer before being elected as Attorney General of Missouri in 2016. In 2018, he ran for the US Senate against Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill, and he had a high showing in the polls. He defeated McCaskill, who conceded to him in a phone call. Hawley opposed Donald Trump's lifting of sanctions on Russia, but he supported the repeal of Obamacare, supported gun rights, claimed that human trafficking was caused by feminism and Hollywood, opposed abortion, supported trade tariffs, and he supported Brett Kavanaugh's appointment to the US Supreme Court.
