Biography[]
Joseph Saidu Momoh was born on 26 January 1937 in Binkolo, Sierra Leone, and he was an enlisted man at the time of Siaka Stevens' appointment of him as the new military ruler of Sierra Leone. Momoh became a Major-General while serving as President, and he led the All People's Congress party. He was inattentive to affairs of state and allowed corrupt advisers to manage the country, and in September 1991 he dismantled the one-party system instituted in 1978 and dismantled the tribalism of the country. In April 1992, Valentine Strasser and young officers seized power, and Momoh died in exile in Guinea.
