Joseph Rosenbaum

Joseph Rosenbaum (1984-25 August 2020) was an American Black Lives Matter activist. On 25 August 2020, he took part in the George Floyd protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin (which had increased in intensity due to Jacob Blake's recent shooting by the Kenosha Police Department), during which he allegedly attempted to wrest away the right-wing vigilante Kyle Rittenhouse's AR-15 rifle as he patrolled the streets. Rittenhouse responded by shooting Rosenbaum dead. Rosenbaum and the other slain BLM activist Anthony Huber were hailed as heroes by progressive leaders and media outlets, but conservative leaders and outlets such as The Sun reported that he had taunted Rittenhouse by shouting "Shoot me n****r" before his death, and claimed that Rosenbaum had been a registered sex offender with open battery, disorderly conduct, and domestic abuse cases at the time of his death, attempting to justify Rittenhouse's actions.
