
Joseph Parsons Comegys (29 December 1813-1 February 1893) was a US Senator from Delaware (D) from 19 November 1856 to 14 January 1857, succeeding John M. Clayton and preceding Martin W. Bates.
Biography[]
Joseph Parsons Comegys was born in Dover, Delaware in 1813, the son of Governor Cornelius P. Comegys. He became a lawyer in 1835, and he served in the state legislature before serving in the US Senate from 1856 to 1857. From 1876 to 1893, he served as Chief Justice of Delaware, and he died in office in 1893.
