
Joseph McDowell Jr. (8 March 1756 – 5 February 1801) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-NC 1) from 1797 to 1799, succeeding James Holland and preceding Joseph Dickson.
Biography[]
Joseph McDowell Jr. was born in Winchester, Virginia in 1756, the cousin of Joseph McDowell. He grew up on his family's Quaker Meadows estate in Burke County, North Carolina, and he served as a Major at the Battle of Kings Mountain during the American Revolutionary War. He went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1797 to 1799, and he died in 1801.
